The Boston University field hockey team defeated Bucknell University 1-0 in the Patriot League semifinals, earning a spot in the conference championship.

“It was a really gritty game,” head coach Sally Starr said. “Bucknell, they compete. They play hard. They don’t give you anything, they don’t give you any space. It was really a gritty game. We really had to stay mentally tough. We had to stay nonreactive, and I think we really did a good job with that.”

The Boston University softball team extended its NCAA-best win streak to 26 with three wins over the United States Military Academy this weekend, sweeping a Saturday afternoon doubleheader and winning the series finale Sunday.

The Saturday doubleheader matchups both went into extra innings, but the Terriers (37-13, 15-0 Patriot League) came out victorious in each, winning 2-0 and 2-1 over the Black Knights (18-31, 8-7 PL).

The Boston University women’s basketball team dropped its regular-season closer to the College of the Holy Cross 48-59 Wednesday night in Worcester.

The Terriers (16-13, 12-6 Patriot League) scored the lowest amount of points since league competition began in January, and one of their lowest point totals this season.

Coming off of three previous one- to two-point margin games, the Boston University Terriers defeated the Binghamton University Bearcats 68-63 Saturday afternoon at Case Gym.

Despite pretty consistent scoring on initial possessions, the Bearcats (2-5) out scored the Terriers (7-3) during the heart of the first half of the match. The tide turned slightly when sophomore guard Caelan Jones scored a 3 for his first career basket, giving the Terriers their first lead at 15-13 since the fourth minute.

After a year of restrictions, social distancing mandates and more, Boston University’s club sports teams are on their way back to normal.

Like last year, club sports teams have been adapting and continuing to comply with University-wide mandates. Currently, the indoor mask mandate is the only major COVID-19 protocol that has remained since the spring.
